“Whaaat???”… ‘Liquid Spanx’?… -“for your face!?!?!?!”

Hey! You guys! I couldn’t wait to share this segment from CBS This Morning, that aired today. The guy in this video compared it to Liquid Spanx for the face (skin)”. I know many of us have seen this online and said to ourselves… –“yeah, right!”  I have to admit that I was skeptical about this even being real, until he explained it live on national television this morning.

Keep in mind that this is a temporary quick fix for skin tightening and that the reason it was developed was to seek alternate methods of topical gel for medicinal applications. I don’t know about you guys, but I probably will not want to ever get a face lift, or Botox injections because I fear looking Frankenstein freakish, but I like the more subtle cosmeceuticals and topical options to help me age more gracefully.

Before (left)                         After (right)

For me this is a less scary and rather exciting option to puffy and sagging body parts. I’m already overdosing on the topical vitamin C craze and I’m amazed at how my facial age spots are fading while doing that. So, this “liquid Spanx” has got me ready to try it to life my droopy upper lids, and my saggy-baggy puffy, under eye area.

While guinea pig is not one of my career  or life objectives, I’m sure that once it hits the retail mass market ans I’ve had a chance to see it actually works (on other guinea pigs) I just might give it a ‘whirl’!

Take care! -di

“Ahhh… Matcha!”

Hi! You guys!… I actually have Starbucks to thank for this awesome find… Ever since I had my first iced green tea latte I’ve absolutely been hooked on this stuff, -hot or cold! It’s called Matcha and it’s a very finely ground green tea powder that literally dissolves in liquid, with none of the unpleasant green tea taste that I usually get from bagged green tea. For some reason it tastes differently than the bagged brewed tea leaves, and we all are aware of the numerous health benefits of consuming green tea, -that most folks can’t stand. But, matcha is so finely ground that is disappears in cold or hot liquid drinks… Amazing!

The full definition according to their website, “Matcha tea powder is ground from fine Japanese green tea leaves. It is the star of the centuries-old Japanese tea ceremony, and its pleasant taste and health benefits make it a favorite of many tea-lovers today. Organic matcha powder is whisked in a bowl with hot water to create a frothy, bright green, nourishing beverage. Once prepared, it is then immediately consumed in its entirety. It’s important to know where to buy the best quality matcha powder and tea bags. We take great pride in offering only top-quality matcha tea powder for your drinking pleasure.”

It’s rather expensive but I prefer The Republic of Tea‘s brand of matcha, it’s very smooth and has a high caffeine level that can replace a morning cup of coffee (good to know in case you ever run out of coffee and are looking for a substitute), as you can see by this cool video they have on their Facebook page. I think it’s worth the price because I’ve tried many green teas and never quite warmed up to the taste of green tea until I found matcha. You do have to sweeten it with something like sugar, honey, agave or stevia, I prefer the agave because it is low-glycemic and I don’t get sugar spikes.

When I do drink it cold, I enjoy it over ice and usually with coconut milk, because it is also sweet in flavor, low calorie, low-glycemic and stimulates thyroid function. I was looking for the health benefits of drinking green tea, but I couldn’t stand the taste of most green teas. I’ve also read about the benefits of weight loss and the decrease of certain cancers by drinking green tea, which was why when I had my first Starbucks iced green tea latte with coconut milk, I was really impressed that it was green tea and tasted so good and smooth!

It is the purest form of green tea and can also be used for baking, and also in chocolate recipes, too. Matcha has more antioxidant properties than drinking green tea alone because you consume the whole green tea leaf.

So, whether it be hot…  -or cold… -it sure is an improvement over green tea as we’ve known it!

“Hang in There!”… -some great reasons never to give up on your dreams

At age 23, Tina Fey was working at a YMCA.

At age 23, Oprah was fired from her first reporting job.

At age 24, Stephen King was working as a janitor and living in a trailer.

At age 28, Wayne Coyne (from The Flaming Lips) was a fry cook.

At age 30, Harrison Ford was a carpenter.

Whatever your dream is, it is not too late to achieve it. You aren’t a failure because you haven’t found fame and fortune by the age of 21. Hell, it’s okay if you don’t even know what your dream is yet. Even if you’re flipping burgers, waiting tables or answering phones today, you never know where you’ll end up tomorrow.

Never tell yourself you’re too old to make it.
Never tell yourself you missed your chance.
Never tell yourself that you aren’t good enough.
You can do it. Whatever it is.

“Keep & get your ‘relaaax’ on…”

calm is a wonderful website for those who love peaceful and natural sights and sounds. It’s similar to those moments of nature on CBS Sunday Morning’s weekly broadcast on Sunday mornings.

It’s a more extended version of sounds found only in nature with calming accommodating images to provide hours of peaceful atmospheric bliss from the comfort of your home, or anywhere you want actually… -which means you are also able to access this site from mobile smart phones, too.

Feeling stressed out? Need an adult time out, or just a little bit of an escape to regroup in the middle of the work day? This would be a very nice option for perhaps, a little bit of meditation leaving those who experience this site’s calming effect. Hence, the name.

I accidentally found this website when it was part of my required resource reading material for one of my masters classes. I am so glad I did. I’ve always thought a television channel dedicated to sounds of nature was a great idea, but this is better… -it’s on demand 24/7! Enjoy! 😉

Hair, Hair, every… -“Where!?!?!?!”

“Hey! There!”… I know I’ve been away for waaay too long from this blog and I apologize for that but, life happens and graduate school at age 56 is not exactly living the dream! Anyway, glad to be back on track and have changed my site slightly and although I will feature social media and technology issues, my original intent was to have a site dedicated to the 2nd chapter of life and all of the challenges it presents. Today, I’d like to share about ‘hair’, of the unwanted kind.

After my monthly gray, peach-fuzz removal, I almost wanted to take my graying eyebrows off with the rest of my facial hair! It’s been a real struggle these past few years and I’ve been filling my brows in with powders, gels pencils, etc… -as a result, I felt like I was losing a war on how pale, sparse and void of any humanly expression on my face! I thought about the brow-less Whoopie Goldberg look at one point, too. Nothing is more depressing than gray hair… -“everywhere”, right?

I never had thick eyebrows to begin with, so any hair there was much appreciated. I had them dyed once at the salon with some left-over dye from a root touch up, but when it began to grow out, it looked so weird and two-toned, I vowed not to dye them ever again.

Then, I found on (my FAV place to shop online!) a light brown brow tint dye kit for only $12.00 for a 6 week supply. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive and I remember all of the attempts to dye my own hair were disastrous, but I was feeling brave for some reason today.

Long story short… I took the plunge this morning and it came out really nice! Boy, was I shocked! Apparently, the (gray) brow hair that I do have was more than I remembered, since I could only see the sparse dark hairs barely… -even wearing my glasses!

I am so happy that my brows look young again! “LOL!” Well, you know it’s coming, a rousing endorsement for the Godefroy brow tint kit on

I would imagine I’ll need to closely monitor how this fades and grows out but, I think every couple of weeks would be time for a brow touch-up. About as many times as I remove my ‘stash, sideburns and beard! “Oh, joy!” Next… -I’m considering a Brazilian wax! Any thoughts? 😉
